The following privacy policy applies to FollowMe GmbH.
Protecting your privacy is important to us. We respect your personality and privacy, and ensure the protection and lawful processing of your personal data.

Personal data includes all information and details that relate to a specific or identifiable individual.

With this privacy policy, we inform you about which data we process from you, why we need this data, and how you can object to the collection of data.
When we refer to processing your personal data in this privacy policy, we mean any handling of your personal data. This includes storage, processing, usage, deletion, etc.

Why do we collect personal data?
Personal data is a sensitive asset that we only collect in order to enable the operation of our apps (technical requirement). We explicitly allow the provision of false data to further increase protection.
What data is collected through the use of the apps?
Through registration in the app:
Our apps allow sharing and comparing of personal schedules. For the app to function properly, the following data is stored during registration in the apps:

  • Flying personnel Yes/No
  • First and last name
  • E-Mail-Address
  • Airline for which one flies = Employer
  • Rank
  • Homebase
  • Airplanes you are flying
  • Password (securely stored in the Lockbox: https://github.com/granoff/Lockbox) 
    We explicitly state that we never verify the accuracy of the information and it is allowed to use fictitious data.

Through the use of the app:
If you want the app to display your schedule, you must import it. All imported data is stored in our database as well as locally on your device. We only extract the “shifts” from the schedule; we do not read any other information contained in it, such as hotel stays or names.
If services are purchased within the app, the billing is handled directly with Apple or Google. Only the type, timing, and validity are transmitted to us and then associated with the user account.

In order to share the schedule, you must establish a “friendship.” Your friends can now see your schedule as long as you do not end the friendship. The schedules of your friends as well as the friends list are stored on your device. Your schedule is also stored on the devices of your friends.

Address Book Search: To simplify the search for “friends” in the apps, the apps offer a feature called “Address Book Search.” For this, permission to search your own address book is required. Names and email addresses are transmitted to our server, where they are cross-checked with our user database. No storage of the transmitted data occurs.

What data is processed in connection with marketing?
We do not use your data for marketing purposes. We only contact you if we deem it important to inform you about a change in our product or technical issues.

What data is processed when using our websites?
You can visit our websites without providing any personal information. When visiting our websites, our server does not store access or create log files.

Are external services used?
For the purpose of designing our apps to meet your needs and for continuous optimization, all interactions of the apps with our server are stored (timestamps).
For technical improvement of the app, data on technical errors is collected and sent to a third-party provider (https://docs.fabric.io/android/fabric/data-privacy.html).
To display flights on a map, we use the Google Maps API (Android & iOS SDK). FollowMe does not collect live location from the user and only uses Google Maps for displaying the map. (https://developers.google.com/maps/terms)
We source ad placements directly from Google using the Firebase Google Mobile Ads SDK (Advertising).

What are social plugins and how are they used?
Our apps use social plugins, such as those from WhatsApp. The plugins are marked with the logo of the provider.
If you click on “Recommend” in our app and then also click on a provider’s logo, the provider receives the information that you are using our app. If you are logged in to the provider at the same time, the provider can associate the visit with your profile. When you interact with the plugins, the corresponding information is transmitted directly from our app to the provider and stored there.
If you do not want the providers to collect data about you, you should not use the “Recommend” function.

Contact form
You have the option to use a contact form to get in touch with us. Certain personal data input is mandatory (indicated in the respective form).
We only use this and other voluntarily entered data to respond to your contact request as effectively and personalized as possible.

How long will your data be stored?
If schedules are imported, we store the events in the database so that they can be displayed to your friends and you. You can delete the data in your user profile in the apps at any time.
In addition to the data extracted from your schedule, which we store in our database, we also store the import file itself encrypted on our server for 3 months.

What rights do you have regarding your personal data?
Regarding your personal data, you have the following rights:

  • You can request information about your stored personal data.
  • You can request correction, supplementation, blocking, or deletion of your personal data.
  • If you have set up a customer account, you can delete it directly in the apps or request its deletion.

Are your data shared with third parties?
There is no sharing, selling, or other transmission of your personal data to third parties unless it is necessary for the purpose of contract processing or you have expressly consented.

Data security
We take appropriate precautions to protect your data. However, transmitting information over the internet and other electronic means always carries certain security risks, and we cannot guarantee the security of information transmitted in this way.

Changes to this privacy policy
We do not change the privacy policy without your consent. As of May 2018.
